Judy Louise Sommerlad of Idyllwild, died quietly at home Monday, Nov. 11.
She moved to Idyllwild from Santa Monica in 1984.
Ms. Sommerland was remembered as “Idyllwild’s favorite waitress,” having worked for years at Senor Ruben’s and then Arriba’s Mexican restaurants.
Family and friends said she loved Idyllwild and its residents. They recalled her smiling face and bubbling personality, and that “she always insisted you clean your plate before dessert.”
A memorial service is planned for 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24 at the American Legion Post 800. It will include a potluck reception. Participants are asked to bring finger foods or appetizers.
Ms. Sommerlad is survived by her mother, Louise Sommerlad, of Palm Desert; and her brother, David Sommerlad, and his partner, Kim Walters, both of Idyllwild.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Idyllwild Animal Rescue Friends at P.O. Box 1965 or to the Idyllwild HELP Center at P.O. Box 660, Idyllwild, CA 92549.
