A confluence of events including warm weather, a non-compliant compressor and a visit from Riverside County Environmental Health and Safety, have delayed the opening of the ice rink at the Idyllwild Community Center property. Idyllwild Community Recreation Council Vice President Dawn Sonnier said rink operator Gary Steven is installing a new compressor to double the capacity to freeze the ice better. “It will be completed and set up by Friday [Jan. 6] but [there] won’t be skating until [the ice] is ready,” she said.
