Season’s final games
The last week of volleyball kicked off with a game Monday between the Idyllwild Garage and Forest Lumber. The Garage played relaxed since they had already wrapped up first place for the playoffs. The Garage won the first two games but Forest Lumber came back to win the third game with great teamwork. The Garage went on to win the fourth game and the match. (25-16, 25-17, 20-25, 25-19)

On Wednesday night Idyllwild Garage took on Pacific Slope Tree Co. For Idyllwild Garage it was a tune up for the upcoming playoffs. The Garage came out focused and went on to win the match in three games. (25-16, 25-16, 25-19)

Thursday night was the last game for the Volleyball League season. Silver Pines played Idyllwild Chevron. Both teams were in the playoffs and already new they would face each other in the first game of Saturday’s first round of playoffs. Both teams played loose in their tune up for the playoffs. Silver Pines went on to win in four games (25-21, 25-17, 19-25, 25,18).

Championship tournament
On Saturday, the playoffs started with No. 2 Silver Pines Lodge taking on third seed Idyllwild Chevron. The team’s regular season games were always close and well played. It continued in their playoff match.

Idyllwild Chevron fell behind early in the first game, but battled back and won the first game. Chevron had their chances to take a two game lead but Silver Pines bounced back and won a close game two. Silver Pines kept the momentum and went on to win the match in four games to advance to the championship round. (22-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-17)

The second match was between top seed Idyllwild Garage and fourth seed Idyllwild Inn. The Inn had to play a man short due to injuries as they had done for much of the end of the regular season.

They battled hard but the Garage was too strong as they went on to win the match in three games with the identical score in each game. (25-19, 25-19, 25-19)

In the consolation match between the Idyllwild Inn and Idyllwild Chevron, short handed Idyllwild Inn fell again. They came out hot and won the first game; but a re-vitalized Chevron got back into it and won the next three games to claim third place. (17-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-20)

The championship match pitted the season’s the top two teams — Idyllwild Garage and Silver Pines Lodge, who played each other tough all season.

The Garage came out playing strong defense and pulled away in the first game. The second game went much the same as the Garage went on a couple big runs as Silver Pines couldn’t get it going. In game three, the teams went back and forth as neither team could build a big lead. In the end, it was Idyllwild Garage’s day as they finally pulled away and won the match and title in three games.(25-18, 25-15, 25-20).

It was Idyllwild Garage’s second consecutive championship. Thanks to all the sponsors, scorekeepers and players on a really fun competative season.
