Unpermitted construction doesn't necessarily mean shoddy construction, or a fire hazard, it just means that the person doing it was unwilling or unable to pay the county permit fees. That's 'permit' as in permission. Have you ever wondered why you have to get permission from the county to build on your own property? Would you be ok with the county or other government agency telling you what books you had permission to read, or who you had permission to associate with? After all, certain books or people could pose a threat to the public safety too.

If someone chooses to build or live in a structure that is built shoddily, isn't that their right to assume the risk?. As for fires, we have had plenty of them in Anza in recent years that were caused by lightening and other things that had nothing to do with construction, shoddy or otherwise. And none of them made it anywhere near Idylwild. Sounds like you are more interested in your personal safety than the public's.

"The county should bulldoze any un permitted building?" You really should consider moving to North Korea – it sounds like you would be much more comfortable with how they run things there. Or maybe apply for a job with County Code Enforcement – I think there may be a job opening there soon…

The county should bulldoze any un permitted building to insure the safety of all the resident from the fire hazard of shoddy construction done without permits.

Remember a fire in Anza could spread into Idyllwild and burn our house down too.
