Town Hall Sports Coordinator Jeremy Teeguarden reported on Town Hall Youth baseball for the week of May 21.

T-Ball League
On Monday, May 21, the Rotary Padres and the American Legion Dodgers played. Both teams were great and the kids are learning the basics of baseball. The Padres’ Chloe Cochrane had a couple nice hits and ran the bases awesomely. The Dodgers’ Lyliann Johnston also had a couple nice hits and played great in the field.

On Friday, the American Legion Dodgers played again. This game, they met the Idyllwild Professional Cleaning Service White Sox. The Dodgers’ Dominic Esparza played great hitting the ball hard. Ashtyn Gaceta had a good game in the field and hitting the ball well for the White Sox.

Tee-ball rules involve much more teamwork than older baseball or softball. Here the Idyllwild Professional Cleaning Service White Sox pitcher and infielder cooperate to stop the ground ball during the game against the American Legion Dodgers.

Minor League
On Monday, May 21, the Idyllwild Inn Diamond Backs plalyed the Shell Astros. The D-Backs took a first-inning lead behind Colby Sonnier’s big hit-and-run score. The score stayed 4-2 until the fourth inning when the Astros exploded for eight runs as Breanna Sheppard scored one of her two runs. The D-Backs came right back and got to within a run going into the last inning. The D-backs played great defense as Rene Hernandez made a key out to keep the game close. The D-Backs got the tying run on base but the Astros Cody Fogle got a key out at the plate and then Ethan Teeguarden finished the game getting the final out at third base as the Astros held on for a thrilling 10-9 win.

The next day, the Shell Astros played the Suburban Propane Rangers. This game started off as a defensive battle as both teams played great defense. Jake Carlson made nice defensive plays at pitcher and scored a run for the Rangers. The Astros got hot hitting the ball in the later innings. The Astros’ Odin Johnston hit great and scored three runs in the game. Emma Righetti got several nice hits for the Rangers. The Astros went on to win 12-4.

In the week’s final game, the Suburban Propane Rangers took on the Idyllwild Inn Diamond Backs. The game was a defensive battle the whole game as both teams made some nice plays. During the third inning, Aiden Mclean and Fernando Maldanado each scored big runs for the Rangers to tie the game. Deanna Clowers hit great for the D-Backs. She had three hits and scored two runs, helping the D-Backs to a 7-3 win.

Major League
On Monday, May 21, the Wooley’s Orioles took on the Green Cafe Cubs. The Orioles were hot early as they jumped out to a five-run lead. Maggie Mckimson scored one of her two runs in the innning. The Cubs got 3 runs in the bottom of the inning as Zach Fogle got a big hit to keep the Cubs in the game. The Orioles bats remained hot going in the third inning. The Orioles’ Jake Mabery hit a line drive down the first base line for a home run to seal their 13-4 victory.

Thursday’s game was between the Higher Grounds Rays and the Green Cafe Cubs. Both teams hit well in the first inning as Aaron Potter scored the Cubs’ fourth run of the inning to take the lead. The Rays came right back and scored four runs of their own, highlighted by Josh Gray’s home run to pull the teams even after one inning. The Cubs kept hitting, Pierce Pramuka scored two big runs, and they went on to win the game 11-4.
