These are the third results reported and are just 18,000 votes more than the tabulation of the early vote-by-mail ballots reported shortly after the polls closed at 8 p.m.

During the period, the split between Rep. Mary Bono Mack and Dr. Raul Ruiz (D) has remained about 58 percent to 42 percent.

Interestingly, Riverside County and San Diego County don't agree on the Assembly District 71 race. Incumbent Brian Jones (R Santee) is leading over all with about 15,200 votes, or 42.5 percent. Democrat Patrick Hurley is second with 11,867 votes or 33.2 percent. However, the leader in the Riverside County tally is Republican challenger JohnMcLaughlin. He has 38.6 percent of the vote (1,426 total), but that's almost a 300 vote lead in the district's northern precincts.

In the local supervisorial race, incumbent Jeff Stone continues to poll Joe Scarafone by 2-1. He has about a 8,500 vote lead with nearly 48 percent of the precincts reporting.

The Superior Court races are all going to the incumbent judges, although challenger John Henry is within 3,500 votes of Judge Craig Riemer, with 43 percent of the precents reporting.

Riverside County voters support the term limit changes in Proposition 28, but oppose the cigarette tax increase which Proposition 29 will bring. However statewide voters gave similar support for Prop 28, but are also slightly favoring Prop 29 (a 12,000 vote difference) 50.2 percent "yes" and 49.8 percent "no".
