Town Hall Sports Coordinator Jeremy Teeguarden reported on Town Hall Adult softball for the week of July 16.

 

On Monday, July 16, Café Aroma took on Team Patty Perez. Team Patty Perez got off to a good start taking a 2-0 lead in the third inning. Patty Perez had a couple of nice hits and scored the first run of the game. Eventually, Café Aroma got their bats going. Craig Wills got three hits and scored two runs and Café Aroma won the game 13–2.

In Monday’s second game, Forest Lumber played Pacific Slope, whose Jody Posey led the early charge. He scored two runs in the early innings. Forest Lumber’s Matt Cox scored a couple runs, too; but it wasn’t enough. Pacific Slope won 13 – 3.

On Tuesday, Forest Lumber faced Creekstone Inn. Forest Lumber took an early lead thanks in part to Kayla Anderson who had four hits. By the beginning of the sixth inning, Forest Lumber had a five-run lead. Then Creekstone Inn got hot. They scored seven runs in the sixth inning to capture the lead. Jason Sonnier scored one of his two runs in the inning. Creekstone Inn played good defense in the seventh inning and held on to win the game 11 – 9.

On Wednesday, Team Patty Perez met Ajax, who would play a doubleheader that night. Josh Hernandez played great for Team Perez scoring two runs. Art Torrez led the way for Ajax scoring a couple runs as Ajax won the game 16 – 5.

 

In its second game, Ajax took on Forest Lumber, playing its third game in three days. The two teams produced a great game, hitting well as the score went back and forth. Ajax took a late lead as Kirsten Torrez scored one of her three runs in the game. Trailing by three runs in their last at-bat. Forest Lumber’s Jeff Adams came up with a key inside-the-park homerun. Forest Lumber tied the game. But Ajax scored the winning run in the top of the last inning and played good defense as they won the game 17 – 16.

On Friday, July 20, the week’s final game was another close one as Creekstone Inn faced Pacific Slope. The lead changed often as Pete Holzman and Jeff Sherman hit great for their teams and each scored two runs. In the last inning, Creekstone Inn scored five runs to take the lead and won the game 16 – 13. They now have sole possession of first place.
