Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, provided this report on the Friday, July 20, golf tournament played at the Moreno Valley Ranch Golf Club.

The day was hot and so was Gary Brown (course handicap 16), who won the tourney with a net 63. He also won the low gross score prize with a 79.

Greg Piersol (15), also was on fire, coming in second with a net 66. John McAndrews (38) took third with a net 70, and Chuck Alkire (13) and Robert Priefer (24) tied for 4th with net 71s.

The four closest-to-the-pin contests were won by Gary Leong, Les Widerynski, Bill Sanborn and Piersol.

This was the final competition of the 2011-12 season, so the top eight point finishers will compete in match-play playoffs during August, September and October to determine the Club Champion.
