The Anza and surrounding High Country Communities of talented artists will present their work at the Heart of the High Country Holiday Art Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10. An artists’ reception with refreshments will be from noon to 2 p.m.

Ten local artists will participate in the show: Naomie Cochrane, Angel Garcia, Rosie Grindle, Rex Harrison, Margie Kohler, Merrie Kraatz, Mary Marlin, Angela Simpson and Sue Smith.

Jill Roberts is this year’s guest artist. Originally from central Ohio and painting at the early age of five, Jill’s artistic desire became evident quickly. Growing up in the rural Ohio surroundings, she was influenced by the rich colors and ever-changing scenery of landscape, weather and wildlife.

By the age of 17, she had become a well-known artist in her community near Zanesville, through her artistic achievements, including airbrushing vans, motorcycles, helmets, and murals. Jill attended the prestigious Columbus College of Art Design where she earned a bachelors degree in fine arts, majoring in advertising design.

As Colony Manager of the Dorland Mountain Arts Colony in Temecula, she is involved in the local art scene. Jill has recently moved to the high country of Anza where the elevation provides more big sky and far-reaching views of the rugged terrain.

Media at the show includes watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastel, pen and ink, photography, gourds, and mixed media. The themes range from landscapes to flowers, portraits, and abstractions.

The highlight of the gallery show will be a raffle of pieces of art. Ticket buyers will choose which piece or pieces of art they would like to take a chance on winning. Tickets are $1.each or 6 for $5. All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the Anza community.

The show will be held at the Anza Pines Mobile Home Park Clubhouse, 53651 Highway 371. If you would like more information about this event, or to schedule an interview, please call Sue Smith at (951) 763-5488.
