It is with sadness and dismay that I read of the latest proposal or “threat” by the [Idyllwild] Chamber [of Commerce] to cut up and auction “Harmony” in pieces.

Is this really true or a ploy to raise public ire to force David Roy and his “shadow” to reconsider their demands and come to the mediation table?

Without knowing both sides of the story, I cannot pass judgment on Mr. Roy or the Chamber.

However, this proposal immediately brought to mind the Old Testament account of the dispute between two women. (See 1 Kings 3:16-28.) The women came to the king, fighting over the same baby. The king made his judgment for the mother, who would choose to have her baby given away to the other woman rather than have “the living child cut in two, with one half given to each woman.”
