Mark Dean and wife Margie are OK following the explosions at the Boston Marathon. Dean had finished his race about 20 minutes prior to the two blasts and both he and Margie were several blocks away from the explosions when they occurred.

Mark Dean, Pine Cove resident, is running in the Boston Marathon. Live updates show Dean at 11:15 a.m. Boston time, his 10 kilometer time at 0:50:03, pace 8:03; at 12:10 p.m at half marathon time 1:45:03, pace 8:00; at 12:55 p.m. at 30 kilometers, time 2:30:05, pace 8:03. Weather in Boston was perfect at the start, 48 degrees and expected to reach mid 50s by the time first runners reached race finish at Copley Square.

Dean kept pace until the last moments of the race when he began to slow. He finished in 3 hours, 44 minutes and 5 seconds, pace 8:33. Dean finished 14 minutes short of his goal of three and a half hours and three minutes longer than his qualifying time of 3:41.

By the numbers Dean placed 11,745th out of 24,662 runners that started, 8035th of all men running and 159th in his age division.
