Robert Peek, State Park ranger, reported that park employees Eric Hanson and Diana Santiago, who had been dispatched to help locate two hikers lost on the Pacific Crest Trail near Wellman’s Divide, found the hikers and escorted them back to the Long Valley Ranger Station. The rescue occurred on Thursday, April 4. Rescuers were dispatched around 5:45 p.m. Around 8 p.m., Peek received a call that his team had found the hikers and brought them to safety and all units were notified to stand down.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, their aviation unit and members of the Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit were also dispatched and participated in the search.
