The Riverside County Board of Supervisors approved a $25,000 agreement to provide assistance to low-income victims of the Silver Fire.

The State’s Department of Community Services is providing the Community Action Partnership of Riverside County with $15,000 that can help these people with mortgage, rental, utility or food costs.

During the Silver Fire several communities, including Poppet Flats, Silent Valley Twin Pines and Vista Grande, were required to evacuate.

During the time away from their homes, families in the evacuated areas had to absorb unexpected expenses such as for food and gasoline.

In addition, power outages resulted in possible food contamination.

With this agreement, CAP Riverside will assist about 100 families or individuals with store vouchers to obtain food, water and other incidentals as well as assistance for supplemental mortgage and rental payments.

The CAP Riverside phone number is 951-955-4900.
