Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, reported on the Friday, Nov. 15, golf tournament at the Morongo Tukwet Canyon Champions Course in Beaumont.

While skies were sunny in Idyllwild, the valley was buried under a thick cloud inversion, creating chilly conditions for play throughout the day.

Jerry Gabel (course handicap 24) shot a net 69 for first place; Chuck Alkire (13) took second with a net 70; there was a tie for third between Lee Lanfried (21) and Bill Mitchell (30), both with net 71s; and there was a tie for fifth place between John LoGiudice (21) and Ray Rickards (11) with net 72s.

The closest-to-the-pin winners on the four par-3s were Dan Slattery on the second hole, Gary Brown on the eighth hole, Mitchell on the 15th hole, and Gabel on the 17th hole.

Palms to Pines welcomes new members Scott Foster, Lev Sanford and Tony Viola.
