Julianna Marganian, a sophomore from Idyllwild Arts, was giving free hugs in downtown Idyllwild on Saturday. She wasn’t promoting or selling anything, she just wanted to do it because “no matter what kind of day a person is having, if it’s really bad, if you get a hug it just makes it that much better,” she said. Julianna’s goal was to reach 100 hugs, which she accomplished in the first half hour. By 3 p.m., she had given 234 hugs to men, women, children and pets. According to Julianna, it was her first time giving out the hugs, but it probably won’t be her last. “I’m thinking about doing it every Saturday,” she said.Photo by John Pacheco
