Friends of the San Jacinto Valley

Naturalists and bird nesting-box specialists Samantha Dempster and Dan Lace will take hikers to some of the 45 nesting boxes in the San Jacinto Wildlife Area and show how to inspect, clean and survey the boxes.

Information will be provided on how to install and maintain nesting boxes and attract a variety of cavity-nesting birds on private property.

Idyllwild Contemporary Book Club

For its inaugural reading, this new book club will launch into Barbara Kingsolver’s “Flight Behavior.”

The first meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27, either at the Idyllwild Library or Nature’s Wisdom.

Friends of the Idyllwild Library

The club is sponsoring another Penelope Engard lecture in the library’s Community Room.

At 4 p.m. Monday, March 17, Engard continues her monthly series of historical lectures with “The Clark Family,” an examination of the descendants of explorer William Clark (of Lewis and Clark fame) and Revolutionary War hero George Rogers Clark, with particular emphasis (as is Engard’s general manner of presentation) on the female lineage.
