Last Thursday, Hemet High School’s track teams — mens and womens — defeated Beaumont High School. Former Idyllwild School students were significant contributors to Hemet’s victories.

Several juniors and two freshmen are members of the school’s varsity teams.

Three junior boys continued their spring successes. Chad Schelly won the 400-meter race, was a member of the winning four-by-400-meter relay team and finished second in the 800-meter race. Classmate Jayden Emerson was third in the 3,200-meter race and fifth in the 1,600 meters. Tanner Torrez edged Jayden in the 1,600 meters by 2 seconds, finishing second. He also finished third in the high jump and fourth in the 800 meters.

Riley Arnson, a freshman, ran a personal best time (5:35.87) in the 1,600 meters. She finished third in this race and third in the 800 meters.

Junior Allie Hitchcock ran the four-by-100 meters relay race and pole vaulted. Her brother, Micah, ran both the 1,600- and 3,200-meter races.
