This week, watch for the “Palms to Pines Magazine,” which launches May 1.

We are quite excited with the content and look, as well as the distribution area that will include not only Idyllwild and the desert cities, but San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties.

We felt that as the Idyllwild Visitors Center, it was our responsibility to not only serve, but to draw visitors to Idyllwild to help many of our struggling businesses survive.

This magazine becomes the second most important of our publications, the first being the newspaper. (We also publish “Homes on the Hill,” the “Idyllwild Phone Book,” “Explore Idyllwild Map” and “The Guide,” as well as various festival programs.)

Utilizing the TC’s own graphics design, writing and photography staff, P2P will be produced bi-monthly and then become a monthly publication probably next year.

The first edition focuses mostly on Idyllwild-area people and activities with some great features on the desert, too.

If you’re a local, you may recognize a few people in this first issue, like Geri Peterson from Fairway Market, Jennifer McKee of the Candy Cupboard, artist Ron Singerton, our own librarian, Shannon Ng, Mike Berryman, our Pine Cove Market manager, and others.

The 60 pages are chock full of stories and photos because there’s never too little to write about. In fact, we’re already working on our next edition, July/August 2014.

Stop by and pick up a copy later this week and tell us what you think. We welcome your feedback.
