Shortly before noon a small fire was visible from the U.S. Forest Service Cranston Ranger Station. Engineer Richard Wiggins was the Incident Commander and with some assistance from Cal Fire, the Forest Service held the Cranston Fire to three acres.
Both lanes of Hwy 74 were closed for awhile, but they are now open in both directions.
The cause of the fire, which was close to Highway 74, is still under investigation, according to Public Information Officer John Miller.
