I read Dr. Richard Minnich’s article in the June 12 Town Crier and agree completely with him.

However, when the lumbermen came through early in the last century, they took almost everything, leaving the land to grow back to brush piles and thickets of small, overcrowded trees, then 100 years of fire suppression led to our present situation.

I would like to know if the picture of Idyllwild from 1895 was before or after logging operations.
