The Idyllwild HELP Center, in conjunction with Dr. Ken Browning of the Fern Creek Medical Center, is sponsoring its annual Health Fair with 150 free flu vaccine doses provided by the Riverside County Health Department.

The fair runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. Flu vaccines are on a first-come, first-served basis

The fair also offers free testing of blood pressure, visual acuity, body fat and blood sugar analysis as well as nutritional and Medicare counseling, according to Dr. Dick Goldberg, medical director for Mountain Disaster Preparedness and an emergency-room physician.

Goldberg has been involved for nine or 10 years in helping to organize and staff the Health Fair. “It’s a pleasure for me to be involved with this,” he said, noting that other fair volunteers, who will help administer tests, are some of the core medical group from MDP, including GiGi Kramer, Maggie DiZinno, Jolene Wallace, Mary Ann Brook, Sandy Nielsen and Tracy Phillipi.

“I hope that the fair motivates people who come to contribute to the HELP Center so that they can continue their valuable service to this community,” said Goldberg.

The HELP Center provides the administrative and organizational functions that allow the fair to take place each year.
