According to California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Murawski, Saturday about 4:20 p.m., Natalie Washkill (center), 19, of Idyllwild, lost control of her 1997 Honda Accord EX as she was traveling southbound on Highway 243 near Jameson Road. Washkill’s vehicle t-boned a vehicle carrying Gabriel Salas (left), 46, and Carol Abair, 44, both of Santa Ana, as they were traveling northbound in their 2013 Nissan Altima. Paramedics work unsuccessfully on saving a Canadian motorcycle rider’s life Monday afternoon following a collision at 3:25 p.m. with a GMC pickup driven by a Palm Desert man, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Fernandez. The rider succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The crash is still under investigation and names were not released. The crash occurred on Highway 74, east of Highway 243. Photo by Jack Clark
