According to California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Darren Meyer, Jonathan Paul Drippon, 32, of Cathedral City, was driving a 1998 Volkswagen Passat on Highway 243 northbound and north of Marion View Drive when he collided with a guard rail at about 8:30 a.m. Friday.
