He was in it almost until the end on Friday, but after overnight downpours and flooding in Irving, Texas, delayed play and even converted the par-4 14th hole into a par 3, Brendan Steele could not make up for his 2-over-par start on Thursday.

The Idyllwild native's 1-over-par 72-68 -- 140 missed the cut by two strokes. It marked only the third time he's gone home early this season.

We have no detailed stats to pass along because Shot Tracker was not working on Friday, perhaps because of the flood conditions.

Steele plays next week in the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio. Don't forget that with tournament coverage on Sunday, CBS will be broadcasting a special segment on Brendan Steele that was taped right here in Idyllwild.
