The California Parks Company, managers of Lake Hemet Campgrounds and Market, formally open their floating water park at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6.

Admission is free during the opening day. Ceremonies begin with a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. and a cake cutting and champagne toast follows at 1 p.m. Guided tours are available from 2 to 4 p.m. Visitors must register at V.I.P. reception for guided tours.

California Parks Company Marketing Director Kelly Lam said the working name for the park is currently the Lake Hemet Water Park but he is considering a public contest to come up with a permanent name.

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation formally objected to the name under which the park had been publicized, Splash Island II. As a result, although the park will be up and operating beginning June 6, the name is still a working title.

“Come and bring your families,” said Lam. California Parks already has another floating water park in operation at Lake Gregory. Lam said he is excited to be opening the second park.
