At about 10 p.m. Tuesday, Julia Goldfarb-Sousa, 22, of Mentone, was traveling west on Highway 74 in her 2009 Honda Civic when she lost control and slammed into the mountain. According to Sousa, she swerved to avoid hitting a rabbit near Mile Marker 52 resulting in the collision. Idyllwild Fire responded to the scene, but Sousa was uninjured and no other vehicles were involved. The westbound lane was closed for about 30 minutes while the scene was cleared.
