The Mariachi Divas will be celebrating Mexican Independence Day early this year, hitting the stage at Soboba Casino at 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at AC’s Lounge in San Jacinto. Tickets are on sale now.

The two-time Grammy Award-winning Divas, have a grand total of six Grammy award nominations under their belts. The nominations marked the first time in the history that the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences had an all-female mariachi group as a nominee and a winner.

The Diva’s extensive discography totals nine albums over the past 15 years. In addition to playing to audiences in theaters and venues around the country, they are the official mariachi band of Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. According to Stan Freese, talent-booking director for Disney Resorts, “With their fifth (Grammy) nomination, they have earned more (Grammy) nominations than any other mariachi band.”

Doors to the concert will open at 8 p.m.

Richard Rawlings, the mastermind behind Discovery Channel’s hit TV show, “Fast N’ Loud” has searched the far corners of this country for classic cars to buy and restore at his world famous Gas Monkey Garage in Dallas, Texas. Last weekend however, Rawlings could be found in San Jacinto, not buying a car, but rather giving one away.

After a free meet and greet and autograph session with hundreds of his fans, Rawlings jumped on the microphone to announce who would be driving off in a 2015 Camaro. With a quick stroke on the computer that is programed to randomly draw a winner, Rawlings announced Perris resident Rodrigo Torres was the winner in Soboba Casino’s “Free N’ Loud” promotion.

The lucky winner received a 2015 Chevy Camaro customized by Rawlings and his crew at Gas Monkey Garage. Rodrigo, along with his wife, were waiting anxiously near the promotions area of the casino when the winning name was announced. Rodrigo exclaimed; “I saw my name and started shaking, I was so happy.” Rodrigos’ wife could also be heard shouting with joy at the sound of her husband’s name being called and immediately became emotional at the realization that they would be taking home such an enormous prize.

Soboba Casino’s Director of Marketing, Michael J. Broderick, exclaimed “It’s a great feeling to be able to give away a really cool custom Camaro like this one, but the greatest feeling is seeing that it is going to a nice family and all around good, hard working people.” Broderick continued with; “we are thankful to have had Richard Rawlings as our guest, and elated to have Rodrigo as our grand prize winner. Now get you some of that!”  Rawlings handed Rodrigo the keys and exclaimed “He just got him some!” Rawlings then wrapped up the celebration by autographing the dashboard of the prized Camaro and wishing Torres luck on the road.
