The 2015 Idyllwild Earth Fair has been permanently canceled for this year. Organizers still plan to have a 2016 Earth Fair.

In May, the 2015 Fair was postponed to September and now, due to unexpected circumstances, the Fair will not be held this year. The Idyllwild Earth Fair was founded in 1990 by a group of dedicated and passionate community members.

“Much has changed since the first Idyllwild Earth Fair was held,” explained Holly Owens, of the Idyllwild Earth Fair. “The cost of permits, insurance, rental equipment and other associated fees have become prohibitive. Therefore, the only way to apply for viable financial assistance and grants is finally to establish Earth Fair as an official non-profit organization. This is long overdue and we need assistance throughout this process. The 25th Earth Fair will happen once we have achieved that goal.”

“Our Earth Day celebration has grown to be one of Idyllwild’s longest standing community events, featuring live entertainment, organic ethnic food, and interactive exhibits with information on a range of conservation issues,” Owens said. “We have also organized and sponsored a variety of programs and workshops for students at the Idyllwild School, and hosted numerous community presentations on climate change, wildland conservation, composting and more.”

In addition to assistance in establishing Earth Fair as a non-profit organization, the Earth Fair group also needs help for the planning and production of the event. More information on Earth Fair and how to become involved can be obtained from Owens at [email protected]
