From Wednesday, Oct. 7 through Tuesday, Oct. 13, there was only one traffic collision on the Hill.

At 12:20 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, Maurice Copeland, 77, of Rancho Mirage was driving his 2013 white Acura sedan south on Highway 243 just south of Baldy Road when he made an unsafe turning movement, according to Officer Darren Meyer, California Highway patrol public information officer.

His Acura collided with an embankment causing injury to both Copeland and his passenger Richard Dorisse, 77, also of Rancho Mirage. Copeland sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by AMR to San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital in Banning. Dorisse was also injured but refused treatment. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
