The deadline for submitting applications for the County Service Area Advisory Council has been extended until Jan. 31, 2016. Opal Hellweg, legislative assistant for 3rd District Supv. Chuck Washington, announced the extension, noting that to date four applications have been received for the five-member council.

The council has been moribund for nearly two years. It was created to review infrastructure conditions, budgets and activities related to community recreation and street lamps. It acts as the “eyes and ears” of the supervisor and advises him on these matters. It has no policy-making role.

Washington approved reconstituting the council after complaints from town residents over county management of recreation.

The four who have submitted applications to date are Ginger Dagnall, Kathy Wilson, Mark Davis and Susan Nash.

To download an application, visit http://rivcodistrict3.org or contact Hellweg at 951-955-8815 if there are problems with the download. After completion of the application, return it to Hellweg at [email protected] or at 37600 Sky Canyon Dr. #505, Murrieta, CA 92563.

Hellweg said after all applications are submitted, she and Verne Lauritzen, Washington’s chief of staff, will come to Idyllwild and interview the candidates. After that they will take the information back to the supervisor, who will review it and select the members. “Before submission to the Board of Supervisors for final approval, we will ask the individuals if they are willing to serve,” said Hellweg.
