Brendan Steele posted an 8-under-par 70-69-69-64 -- 272 in the Travelers Championship in Connecticut to tie for 17th and secure another top-20 finish, his tenth in 22 starts this season.

On Friday, the native Idyllwilder just made the cut on the number, needing to birdie his 36th and final hole, a 406-yard par 4, to do it. His second-shot wedge stopped 8 feet from the pin, and he drained the putt for the cut-saving birdie.

On Saturday he delivered another 1-under round. But on Sunday he chalked up a sparkling 6-under-par round, which included dropping putts of 24, 18 and 17 feet.

Brendan's Sunday 64 tied the third lowest round of the day -- a day on which tour-veteran Jim Furyk blazed a 58, setting a new all-time PGA Tour record for a single round.
