Robert Lewis, Town Hall recreation director, gave this report on Town Hall Youth Basketball.

Division 1 (ages 6-9)

On Tuesday, Jan. 31, the Idy. Music Lessons Warriors hosted the Ferro Celtics. Logan Wilkerson scored 3 points and passed the ball well for the Celtics. However, Sal Solorio scored 9 points for the Warriors as they beat the Celtics 27-17.

In the second game, the Muir’s Mountain Realty Lakers played the Shell Clippers. Bobby Ann Mayberry had a good game for the Clippers with 3 points and played good defense. The Lakers countered with 6 points from Tyler Sonnier, but it wasn’t enough as the Clippers stayed undefeated with a 31-14 win over the Lakers.

On Friday, Feb. 3, the Ferro Celtics played the Muir’s Mountain Realty Lakers. Hugo Solorio scored a bucket and grabbed many rebounds for the Celtics. Emma Isaac had a great game with good defense and hauled in a lot of rebounds for the Lakers as they cruised to a 24-9 win over the Celtics.

In the second game, the Shell Clippers hosted the Idy. Music Lessons Warriors. The first half was very close with Kaylee Gage playing great defense and passing the ball well for the Warriors. However, in the second half, Lily Mae Hawley grabbed many rebounds and was very aggressive for the Clippers as they pulled away with a 28-20 win over the Warriors.

Division 2 (ages 10-13)

Thursday, Feb. 2, the Fairway Market Lakers and CJ Restaurant Grizzlies played a double header. In the first game, Jon Ryan stole the ball many times with his great defense for the Lakers, but Manuel Guzman scored a bucket and played very well for the Grizzlies as they beat the Lakers 29-16.

The same two teams played each other in the second game. Brayden Schlenz played good for the Lakers, however despite getting hurt, Fiona McMullen poured in 7 points for the Grizzlies as they completed the sweep with a 27-11 win over the Lakers.

Friday, Feb. 3, Fratello’s Mavericks played the CJ Restaurant Grizzlies. The score was tied at halftime thanks to a good game from Tara Geisenger with 2 points.

The second half belonged to the Mavericks with Kaleb Mann scoring a bucket for the Mavericks as they beat the Grizzlies 22-12.

In the second game, the Fairway Market Lakers played the Fratellos Mavericks. Aiden McLean scored a bucket and played good defense for the Lakers. Cristian Gonzalez had 4 points for the Mavericks as they stayed undefeated with a 17-9 win over the Lakers.

Saturday, Feb. 4, was rescheduled games with the Fratello’s Mavericks playing another doubleheader. In the first game, the Mavericks played the CJ Restaurant Grizzlies. Mecino Reynoso had a great game for the Grizzlies scoring 8 points. The Mavericks kept it close with Anahy Loza playing great defense, but the Grizzlies handed the Mavericks their first loss of the season beating them 21-15.

In the second game, the Fairway Market Lakers played the Fratello’s Mavericks. This was a close game with Ryker Hamblin scoring a bucket for the Lakers while Jake Fey passed the ball very well as the Mavericks beat the Lakers 22-15.

Saturday, the Wildcats played host to the San Diego Jr. Gulls. Five minutes into the first period, Bobby Sherrick scored shorthanded for the Wildcats, what would be the only goal of the period.

Two minutes into the second period, Wayne Sturdevant scored the Wildcats’ second goal. Shortly after, Juliette Koepke and Tiffany Anderson each scored a goal, assisting each other. Cole Behseresht added a fifth Wildcats goal. In the final second of the second period, the Jr. Gulls scored on a two-man advantage.

Six minutes into the third, Nick Clarke scored for the Wildcats. With six minutes to go, Juliette Koepke scored her second goal of the game, capping off a 7-1 Wildcats victory.

The Wildcats next play a home game at 3:05 p.m.  Saturday, Feb. 11, against the Orange County Hockey Club.
