New Idyllwild Garden Club President Gary Parton is expecting this year to be a big one for the club.

Parton announced a June 10 garden tour of four Idyllwild homes, an expanded offering of field trips, and the use of St. Hugh’s Episcopal Church lot for parking for the Saturday, April 29, Lilac Walk, Art and Tea.

“We’ll provide shuttle service from the lot and that will help prevent parking congestion on Fern Valley Road,” said Parton. “It will take a little of the stress away from people parking and having to walk longer distances to the garden site.”

Parton also announced the Lilac Walk, Art and Tea is featured in Westways Magazine. He noted the International Lilac Society has confirmed that a delegation of its members will attend next year’s Lilac Walk in Idyllwild. “They will be coming from all over the world,” said Parton. “About 80 people in all. It’s very exciting for us and for Idyllwild.”
