The Idyllwild Snow Group, a core organization of residents in Idyllwild, Pine Cove and Fern Valley concerned about the unprecedented influx of recreational snow visitors and consequent safety issues, will hold a public meeting at the Nature Center.

Said key organizer Marsha Kennedy, “This is a problem that will continue every snow season and we need to come together as a community to find workable solutions.”

Of concern to residents have been issues of illegal parking, partial blockage of roadways and private driveways, trespassing on private property and garbage left behind. At the core of the problem is the fact that Idyllwild is not set up as a recreational snow area like Big Bear or Lake Arrowhead. It lacks infrastructure, especially bathrooms.

The meeting will be held at the Nature Center on Highway 243 from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 8. Said Kennedy, “The Snow Group will offer their findings regarding the Idyllwild/Pine Cove/Fern Valley recreational snow visitor including: problems, possible solutions, results so far and future needs. Please come and bring a couple more residents with you.”

The group has a website with snow information, handy law enforcement links, and phone numbers and other information. Visit www.idysnowtalk.com. The site offers a place to register for email notifications and news.
