Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, provided this report about the association’s regular monthly tourney in September and the semi-finals of its year-end playoffs.

Idyllwild’s Palms to Pines Golf Association held its regular monthly tourney in conjunction with the second round of playoffs for club champion on Friday, Sept. 15, at the The Country Club at Soboba Springs..

In semi-finals of the club’s playoffs among the top 8-point finishers of the year, Pete Capparelli (course handicap 23) beat Dave Robb (12), and Crandall (13) beat Ken Garelick (24). So Capparelli and Crandall will face off for the title of club champion in the October tourney.

In the regular tourney, Capparelli shot a net-65 for his second-consecutive tourney victory. Pete Holzman (13) shot a net 69 for second. Lee Lanfried (25) and Robb shot net 70s to tie for third and Mike Brown (18) rounded out the top five with a net 71.

The winners of the closest-to-the-pin contests on the four par threes were Robb on holes no. 4 and 13; Lanfried on hole no. 8; and Brown on hole no. 15.
