At 5:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, California Highway Patrol Officer Michael Bell responded to a possible collision on Highway 74 just east of Strawberry Creek Bridge. Upon arriving at the site, Bell discovered a vehicle stopped on the shoulder. While investigating, Bell discovered the driver of the vehicle, Keith Torrence Moore, 55, of Hesperia, was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Bell arrested Moore for possible DUI. Moore had been driving a white 2000 Lexus ES 300. Moore had no passengers in his vehicle and there were no other vehicles or persons involved.

At 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, California State Park employee T. McHenry was driving a white 2008 Ford Crown Victoria belonging to the State Park system on Highway 243 south of Penn Way, when, for unknown reasons, he allowed his vehicle to collide with the mountainside. McHenry was on duty at the time of the incident. No other people or vehicles were involved. CHP Officer Graham Aanestad’s initial report suggested McHenry had been driving at a speed too great for highway conditions.

Many CHP reports are preliminary and may not contain further investigative information.
