Jim Crandall, Palms to Pines Golf Association handicap chair, provided this report about the association’s regular monthly tourney held on Friday, Dec. 15 at the Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont.

  Bob Wadlow (course handicap 14) took first place with a net 71; Scott Schroeder (22) was a close second with a net 72; Pete Holzman (16) ended third with a net 73; Ken Garelick (27) took fourth with a net 74; and Dennis Chavez (10) took fifth with a net 76.

The winners of the closest-to-the pin contests on the four par 3s were Wadlow on holes no. 3 and 14, Crandall on hole no. 6 and Chavez on the 11th hole.

After five tournaments for the 2017-18 season, Here are the current point standings for the club championship playoffs for the new season, which runs from August  2017 through July 2018:

Flight B comprises high handicappers (greater than  24.4 as of Oct. 1) who don’t qualify to compete in the club championships, but participate in the monthly tournaments.

David Hiemenz (42) took first with a net 76; Jerry Daquila (27) was second with a net 84; Dave Curl (34) finished third with a net 86; Barry Zander (40) was  fourth with a net 94; and Dale Calderon (42) took fifth with a net 97.

The B-flighters will go into their own playoffs at the end of the year, to determine the B-Flight Club Champion.

Points are awarded at each tournament as follows: first place, 6 points; second place, 4 points; third place, 3 points; fourth place, 2 points; fifth place, 1 point. Also, one-half point is awarded to everyone who participates.

A member has to compete in at least five regular-season tournaments to qualify for the playoffs.

The club is a member of the Southern California Golf Association and is sanctioned to establish SCGA handicaps for members.
