On Thursday, Jan. 4, Christopher Huntley, 47, of Idyllwild, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon (a non-firearm) or force to cause great bodily injury.

Judge Kelly Hansen sentenced Huntley to three years of probation, including 180 days in the custody of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. He was given credit for 32 days served for time in the county jail. So, a balance of 142 days will be required and can be served in a work-release program and completed by February 2018.

Hansen also agreed to strike four prior convictions, which occurred between 2000 and 2010. The District Attorney’s Office agreed “to not file any new charges based on the Jan. 3 search of defendant’s vehicle.”

Huntley also has fines and restitution to pay.

Huntley was arrested in Idyllwild on Dec. 20. Bail was set at $105,000 until he was released on probation.
