Lowman concert hall nearly complete

The interior of the nearly ready William M. Lowman Concert Hall, the new state-of-the-art music venue on the Idyllwild Arts campus. The beams visible in the ceiling are part of the acoustical design engineered by ARUP North America, the firm responsible for the designs of the world-famous Sydney (Australia) Opera House, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Tate Modern in London. The concert venue should open soon.

Capt. Wood promoted

On Dec. 24, Riverside County Sheriff Stan Sniff (left) announced the appointment of Hemet Station Capt. Lyndon “Ray” Wood as the new chief deputy with oversight of the agency’s Eastern Field Operations, which includes the Colorado River, Thermal and Palm Desert stations, as well as the Special Enforcement Bureau (SWAT), Hazardous Device Team (HDT) and Aviation Unit. Wood has led the Hemet Station since December 2013. His replacement has not been announced.

Master Chorale gets special honor
