The Soroptimist International of Idyllwild’s Celebrating Women in the Arts event held Wednesday, March 18, made a unified stand against human trafficking. A standing-room-only audience listened intently to Opal Singleton from Million Kids who spoke at length about the horrible realities of human trafficking in California. When asked about the audience response, Singleton said she was “simply blown away by the event.”

Local authors showcased at museum

Between two faults

About 50 people came to the ICC Speaker Series Thursday night at Silver Pines Lodge. Dr. Patrick Smith, professor of geology at Mt. San Jacinto College, spoke about “Earthquakes Between Two Faults.” He discussed what Idyllwild and its environs may experience in the near future as a result of being situated between two earthquake fault zones — the San Andreas to the east and the San Jacinto to the west.

Lowman Concert Hall project progresses

Construction on the William M. Lowman Concert Hall on the Idyllwild Arts campus is proceeding. This attached steel frame will help cover the lobby and about half of the “house” (audience) in the concert hall.
