PacSlope first-time softball champs

FIRST-TIME CHAMPS: Pacific Slope gets its first win in the Town Hall Adult Softball Division one playoffs. The team members (from left) are Becky Pierce, Claudia Posey, Teresa Garcia-Lande, Ryan Righetti, Julie Fogle, Lance Fogle, Danielle Whitney, Fred Crump, Shaunna Lehr, Mike Rose and Noah Whitney. In the front is Jody Posey. Not pictured are Justine Lehr, Matt McDonald and Amy Righetti. Pacific Slope was 18 and 0 for the season and beat Creekstone 12-10 for the championship.

Car crashes into power pole on South Circle

Yoichi Christopher Kido Jr., 32 of Idyllwild crashed his white Ford Focus into a power pole on South Circle near Scenic Dr. around 1 a.m. Thursday morning, completely severing the pole causing power lines to arch into both lanes of traffic. South Circle was closed in both directions. Kido was transported by Idyllwild Fire to Desert Regional Medical Center. According to CHP Officer Ron Esparza, Kido was arrested for driving under the influence.
