Two mountain lions were killed in January and February of 1988 when the State Department of Fish and Game determined them to be a threat to public safety after the male killed a 45-pound sheepdog. The female cat seemed unhealthy and was staying too close to residential areas. The cats were taken to the Fish and Game hatchery.  File photo
