Monique & Barry in Idyllwild

As full-time RVers since 2006, we have visited hundreds of natural wonders and towns across North America with the goal of seeing all 50 states and the Canadian Provinces and deciding where we would settle down when the time came. In February 2011 we decided that it was the right time to buy a cabin and the right place had to be Idyllwild, which we have grown to love over more than a decade. As we continue our travels, we welcome the opportunity to share our experiences with you, our neighbors.

About Barry: A New Orleans native, Barry spent 10 years as a newspaper reporter and editor before joining the public affairs staff of a regional forestry association, which gave him the opportunity to work with members of Congress, their staffs and the administration on legislation. Six years later he opened an advertising/public relations agency in New Orleans and continued until a client asked him to join his staff in California to work on a new healthcare concept called “managed care.” When that career field ceased to exist, he joined the nation’s largest sign sales and manufacturing company as the public affairs and marketing director. He served 21 years in the Air National Guard, retiring with the rank of Major. Barry has two sons and a daughter.

About Monique: Monique moved to the United States from France with her first husband and four sons, eventually bringing up her family in Orange County. She was a respected interior designer adhering to the rule “form follows function” before opening an art gallery in Laguna Beach while continuing to work with her design clientele. She also taught ESL and the America way of life to Asian students and adults. She is a gourmet cook, even on the road in a mini-kitchen.

In 2006, the Zanders sold their home in San Clemente and have been RVers in a 28-foot travel trailer. They have collaborated on magazine and Internet travel articles for the past year. They have a history of attendance at the Idyllwild-based Whole Being Weekend.

One more thing. We welcome your comments to our blogs, especially with notes that will add to what we have posted.

See you on down the road.
