How can a group of people who live in such a beautiful little town be such jerks?
I came to Idyllwild in August and rent a house from Ben and Nancy. I have been treated with great kindness and respect by both.
That is not the case with most residents of the hill whom I have had the displeasure to interact with. They are mostly rude and mean spirited. I was told by a neighbor that renters are trash. I have been yelled at in a local cafe and should you say hello to someone on the street, they usually just stare or ignore you.
I find the nasty comments about Ben unsurprising but very sad. He certainly does not deserve it .
Are most of you suffering from altitude sickness? Amazing!

In reply to jeff smith. Leech implies absolutely no good? "Concerns for professional certifications/training/conduct", and I will add concerns of integrity, character, ethics, and abilities at a cost of $1.7M of taxpayer dollars?...yep, that's a leech!

Absolutely CORRECT! The current career staff are solely to blame for this mess, because they caused it! They write the checks, "balance" the books, and feed the board and public what they want to hear, "everything is just perfect" when there is no checks and balances of what is done. The "admin captain" keeps the books close to himself and his buddies so they can just tell the board what they need to do. Literally, "garbage in; garbage out"!

The career firefighters are not "hero's", they are leeches of the taxpayers (and 24/7 cable tv viewers @ $1500/yr taxpayers expense, experts in restaurant menus, and disgustingly out-of-shape). Set some standards and expectations; make the "Chief" be the administrator, let the Chief's assistant do her job, and force the career staff get their act together and do something besides lie to the public, or there will no longer a lfpd but a riverside county logo on the door!
