Idyllwild School closed Feb. 18 to Feb. 22

For those busy parents and others in the community, the Hemet Unified School District issued the following announcement yesterday. Hemet Unified School District offices and schools will be closed Feb. 18 to 22 for the President’s week break. Normal office and school hours will resume on Monday, Feb. 25.

Small structure fire Feb. 13

Sparks spewing from a chimney in Royal Pines prompted a call to 911 around 7:15p.m. Wednesday night. Idyllwild Fire responded to the scene and quickly located the issue. No injuries were reported and the scene was cleared within about a half hour.

Idyllwild’s Saturday postal service will remain unaffected despite last week’s U.S. Postal Service announcement of plans to discontinue Saturday mail delivery beginning Saturday, Aug. 5, 2013. The Mountain Communities Fire Safe Council conducted fuel abatement in Twin Pines last week. Pino Tree Service did the clearing, including removal of large piles of brush, on the steep mountain side below the dome house foundation.
