Business owners meet about burglaries

Around 25 Idyllwild business owners and concerned residents met for the second time on Friday, Jan. 11, to devise a coordinated response to recent commercial burglaries.

Tartaglia pleads guilty, sentenced

lfredo Tartaglia, 26, of Idyllwild pleaded guilty to one felony count of assault of a person by force and was sentenced to three years in state prison, according to John Hall, senior public information specialist for the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. The plea and sentencing took place on Thursday, Jan. 10. Part of the sentence considered Tartaglia’s prior prison time within the last five years, referred to in the sentence documents.

Community helps Mayor Max celebrate his birthday

Mayor Max celebrated his 12th birthday with about 100 of his closest friends, human and four-legged, on Sunday afternoon at the Nature Center. Many people brought their dogs to help Max celebrate and even the Nature Center’s bunny showed up to wish him well. Max greeted people and posed for pictures all through the festivities.

Two busloads of South Los Angeles high school rugby players, alums, parents and friends, over 100 in all, made the trek to Idyllwild for the premiere of their documentary film “Red, White, Black and Blue.” The extra bonus for the L.A. troupe was snow, something many of them had never seen.

Ten Idyllwild Middle School students displayed their work at a nicely mounted art show on the stage of the Idyllwild School gymnasium. Faculty advisor Lenore Sazer proudly noted that of her graduating eighth grade featured artists, five are applying to Idyllwild Arts.
