On Saturday, Dec. 15, the U.S. Forest Service conducted its first bald eagle count of the winter. Local, federal and state biologists and volunteers participated in the count, which was around lakes in Southern California.

As we approach the end of the year and we start to contemplate New Year’s resolutions we must remember that nothing is as important as preserving our health.

Supplies are lower than usual this year at the HELP Center. In the spirit of the holidays, we would like to encourage our neighbors on the Hill to join us in contributing generously to those who are in need.

Laguna Beach had the Greeter. Idyllwild had, at least for a number of years, the Idyllwild Look-alikes, Gary Glasheen and Bill Guy. The two, who many assumed are twins, are not even related. They just look alike.

Nearly 18 months after county authorization of an Idyllwild historic preservation district, the local commission may finally be appointed. In July 2011, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors passed Ordinance 578.5, which created the district.
