Pine Cove Property Owners donate to local groups
The Pine Cove Property Owners Association decided on several contributions to local organizations at their June meeting.
The group gave $1,000 to both Mountain Disaster Preparedness and the American Legion Post 800. The gift to the American Legion for a heater for the Warming Center was omitted.

Monitoring of old leak continues
County Department of Environmental Health is not prepared to reduce groundwater monitoring at the Village Food and Fuel site (Shell Station) for every monitoring well near the site. While DEH agreed to less frequent monitoring for wells off the site, it required the two wells on the site to be monitored quarterly.

This was Jones’ first visit to Idyllwild and he plans to return again late this summer. Jones, his wife Heather, and three children reside in Santee. He is a former Santee City Councilman and was elected to the California Assembly in 2010.
Supervisors consider layoffs and salary raises
Riverside County’s new Executive Officer, Jay Orr, pulled his proposal to raise the compensation of the county’s elected officials, e.g., Sheriff and District Attorney, from Tuesday’s Board of Supervisor’s agenda. He plans to re-submit it in the future.

Idyllwild School welcomes seven new teachers
Idyllwild School Principal Matt Kraemer announced the names of the teachers who would be filling the vacancies created by the retirement this month of six longtime faculty members. He also mentioned one more position that was added for the 2012-13 school year, bringing the new teacher total to seven.
