Scratch secession, convene constitutional confab

The state of South California is no longer 3rd District Supervisor Jeff Stone’s highest priority. This was the topic of the lecture by Dr. Patricia Crown, professor of anthropology, University of New Mexico, delivered at the Idyllwild Arts Academy during Native American Arts Week. The Mayans and Aztecs discovered the nutritious and culinary value of the nut from the cacao tree in the rainforests of Central...

Creature Corner: July 21, 2011

Oh, sweet Bobby McGee, if only you could tell us your story. Were you born with the physical challenges that you bear with such grace and good humor? Did someone literally kick you out into the streets because they couldn’t understand you — or didn’t have the small measure of patience it takes to love you?
