Former Assemblyman Ray Haynes, Republican, has decided to enter the race for U.S. Representative from the 36th District. He is challenging incumbent Dr. Raul Ruiz and fellow Republican Brian Nestande (current 46th District state assemblyman).<\/p>\n<p>California\u2019s \u201cTop Two\u201d law sends the two candidates, regardless of party affiliation, garnering the most votes to the November general election.<\/p>\n<p>Other races with multiple candidates include the California 28th state Senate race. Third District Supervisor Jeff Stone is one of six candidates.<\/p>\n<p>Some Riverside County elected officials will face challenges. Michael Hestrin wants to replace first-term District Attorney Paul Zellerbach in the most highly charged contest. Other county officials facing opponents in June include Superintendent of Schools Ken Young and Sheriff Stan Sniff.<\/p>\n<p>The lack of candidates has resulted in some races being officially decided already. The Hill\u2019s state Assemblyman Brian Jones is unopposed as well as the county\u2019s Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder candidate Peter Aldana, Auditor-Controller Paul Angulo and Treasurer-Tax Collector Don Kent.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-29012\" alt=\"june-primary\" src=\"http:\/\/idyllwildtowncrier.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/june-primary.jpg\" width=\"419\" height=\"603\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hill voters will have several choices for the June primary ballot.
